The beginnings of the #MedfieldPS TwitterChat!

The world of twitter has changed what Professional Development looks like for educators. It has opened up connections between educators all over the world, but sometimes a good place to start is locally. Even in a smaller district, educators do not always have the opportunity to collaborate and share thoughts and open discussion on certain topics, initiatives, or ideas with each other outside of their grade levels or school buildings. Twitter is one tool that is making it convenient and possible.

This summer, Blake Principal @nat_vaughn (a true Twitter enthusiast) got the tweets rolling by organizing and facilitating our district's first monthly twitterchats! A few teachers from each school (k-12) joined in and were asked 5 questions to reflect on the previous school year for our first topic and the second twitterchat focused on getting ready for the 2015-16 school year.

Both twitterchats have been archived. Take a look:

The educators who participated in the Twitterchats truly enjoyed the interaction with each other, getting different perspectives and simply making connections with teachers they normally would never get a chance to talk to in the district. We're hoping this idea/tool evolves with more district teachers participating and becomes an effective way to share with our community and beyond ...!

Stay tuned for the next months- TBA
